Adventurous Activities

The Program

Adventurous Activities programs are led by highly trained and skilled members of Scouts Australia. Scout members can become qualified and lead the adventurous activity, as well as participate in days where leaders of the activities run special events.

As part of its Adult Training & Development Program, Scouts Australia offers a comprehensive program that builds knowledge and skills in Adventurous Activities. Undertaking challenging pursuits provides a framework to grow the spiritual, physical, intellectual, character, emotional and social aspects of Scouting members.

Training and Qualification Recognition

Adventurous Activities programs, delivered through the Adult Training and Development pathway, are offered to Venturer Scouts, Rover Scouts as well as Adult Leaders, and may assist in the completion of the award scheme in the Venturer Scout and Rover Scout sections. As well as being trained in these skills, members also have the opportunity to have their existing skills in these areas recognised in an official capacity, allowing them to also deliver the program.

As part of our commitment to effective risk management, we ensure that delivery of the program meets the high standards set by Scouts Australia.

Activities on offer

Programs are offered across a wide variety of pursuits, including (but not limited to):

  • Bushwalking (in different terrains)
  • Canoeing and Kayaking (in different environments)
  • Rope related activities (e.g. Rock climbing and Abseiling – at various degrees of difficulty)
  • Caving and Canyoning
  • Sailing
  • Archery

If you are interested in finding out when the next Adventurous Activity Day is for a particular category, keep an eye out on the Events calendar. Mark the date in your calendar and make sure you enrol as soon as the event is opened up as spots tend to fill up quickly, especially for the more popular programs such as boating.
