Get to know our Policies
Learn about the regulations that guide Scouts WA activities.
As a not-for-profit, volunteer based organisation which delivers non-formal education programs to young people, Scouts WA is committed to maintaining the safest environment possible for all youth members, volunteers, and staff.
For over 100 years, Scouting has been an important and successful part of the Western Australian community. We provide non-formal educational and recreational programs that foster personal growth in six areas of personal development; social, pyhsical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual making up the fundamental basis of a person’s character. We place a high emphasis on our ability to deliver these programs in practical and safe environments. To this end, we have developed a comprehensive risk management system that provides clear direction for the safe conduct of all our operations and activities. Some of these policies, or summaries thereof, are available below.

How We Keep People Safe
At Scouts WA, we believe in promoting a safe and welcoming environment for all of our members. We expect all of our members to abide by these guidelines and help create a positive and inclusive community. All adults in Scouting, including parents and caregivers, have a responsibility to follow our guidelines for behaviour, as our top priority is ensuring the safety of vulnerable children in our care.
Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct is intended to protect all members of Scouting. It applies to all members aged 18 years and over, regardless of location and role, when engaging with young people and adults in any form of Scouting.
Safeguarding Vulnerable People
We believe in diversity and inclusivity, and strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.
Child Protection FAQs
We aim to be as transparent as possible, and want to ensure everyone has a clear understanding of child protection. If you need more info, please reach out.
Complaints
We encourage all members to honestly engage with us. We understand that in an organisation as large and diverse as Scouts WA, sometimes there will be friction so we want to ensure that there is a clear understanding of how complaints are handled.
Our Commitment
Scouts Australia is the umbrella under which all state branches come under. We share all the same values, and there are some policies that encompass all states, and some that are specific to each state. Below are policies, standards, and rules that we as Scouts WA follow.
Risk
Participating in Scouting involves a degree of risk. However, all risk is mitigated, controlled, and accounted for as best we can.
