Child Safety

Safety is our #1 Priority

The safety and wellbeing of the young people in our care is our number one concern and priority and we immediately action any matter regarding a child’s safety. We take a number of steps to ensure that our Scouting is a safe, fun, and inclusive place for young people to grow in, and have strong processes in place to support this including:

  • All adult members are thoroughly screened through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (renewable every 5 years), reference checks, and must hold a valid, verified Working with Children Check.
  • All adult members must undertake mandatory online training in Child Safe Scouting, WHS for Scouting, and accept the Code of Conduct with each requiring renewal every 2 years.
  • Adult Leaders receive comprehensive, ongoing training and development across a range of subjects which cover scouting essentials, leadership and management, project management, communication and development.
  • At least one person trained in first aid attends all major events.
  • Our 2 Adult policy means that at least two adults are present at all meetings and events, including online and offline conversations and interactions.
  • We liaise with parents and carers to ensure we have the information necessary to cater for your child’s individual medical, physical and dietary requirements.
  • All visitors to closed scouting activities are required to register.

As a thriving, modern organisation, we have zero tolerance for abuse of any kind. Our policy is to report any allegation of child abuse to police, and other child protection authorities.

Any member or Employee involved with such allegations will be immediately stood down pending further investigation, in line with our Child Protection Policy.
